A downloadable game for Windows and Linux

A flash strategy game with city-building flavor, where you move a character around a small neighborhood to establish buildings. Gain population and the people support to drive out BigRealty whom is trying to seize control of the neighborhood.

The project is still in alpha prototype stage, where all the main gameplay features are still in active development. The project is public on itch.io to encourage accountability and hopefully to do some early testing on controls and game mechanics.

Updates for v0.037:

  • Cosmetic changes. Updated layout of the UI so that player character information is shown at the bottom of the screen.
  • Lighting updates during night time. Some building shadows are still off and still work-in-progress.
  • Implemented a "Room Screen" that shows up when you go to your room. Players can see the furniture obtained. As you build and get better ratings, furniture will be upgraded and players will gain small perks.
  • Started implementing a "request/offer"mechanic. In v0.037 build, only "Club" has such mechanic.

Design challenges:

  • How to make the neighborhood feel more lived?

Rally version 0.032 update for linux build is available for play and download now. To properly play this build, download the file "rally_v0p037_linux.x86_64" and double-click on the executable to launch the game. Windows build (unverified) is also available to download "rally_v0p037_windows.zip"

Web version for this build is unavailable, please use either the linux or windows build.

How to Play

It uses point-and-click control to choose an object/place where your character is going. After moving close to the object/place, click on the object/place again to display the available activities. Empty lots have "establish", Utility posts have "Activate", etc.

Utility Post

Like city-building games, you must activate the zoning before you can build buildings.

Utility Post - Activate Zoning

First, walk to an un-activated utility post (a road with an electric sign) and activate it. Beware that you need to pay some money to do so.

After that, empty lots will be available to be built upon.

Zoning Types
Green TileResidential
 Blue TileCommercial
 Yellow TileFacility
Pink TileLogistic

Move your character near an empty lot, and then click on it again to enable the "Establish" interaction option. You will see another menu to choose which building to establish.

Ratings

Building commercials, facilities, and transport buildings to attract potential residence. There is rating and demand meter for population as shown in the top-right of the game UI.

As you build different buildings, each rating will go up and thus population demand will also grow. When there is some population demand, build some residentials so they can move in!

Energy

Energy is expended as you move about and do interactions. When it's out, you will not be able to execute any interactions (with some exceptions that build back energy) and your movement will be sluggish!

Energy Bar

Go back to your room and rest to replenish.

Gates

There are several gates scattered around the neighborhood which prevent you from using the road.

So, go to these outposts and use your rally-points to rally it and gain passage!

Competition

You will be playing against BigRealty to gain the residence's support. BigRealty will dispatch their agents (purple car as shown below) to build residentials or rally support for their own gain.

Your goal is to gain enough support on campaign day and wisely command the crowd to drive out BigRealty from your neighborhood and win the game!

hey dude i have a old version of your game should i archive it?

The old version is a very rough prototype of the game, as it is still in early active development. I would not recommend archiving it since it would just take memory space.
But feel free to archive it if you can afford the memory space.

also archived the current web pag
